I've been revisiting this "London Brew" tribute to "Bitches Brew" thing.

Disc 1 makes more sense to me this time. . . I've decided that parts of it remind me more of "Miles Davis at Fillmore" than "Bitches Brew" (the synth interplay being like Keith and Chick in ways, and some reminds me of "The Mask") and though parts of the second track might be conceived to be like "Pharaoh's Dance". . .it is a lot more like "Ife" and some of "Get Up With It."

The horns are more dominant on the second disc and I like that more and forget about trying to see what was "Bitches Brew" inspired etc.

Reply #23157 - 04/11/23 at 18:36:54 Recently acquired a bunch of vinyl that was my mother in laws from a long time ago. Some were even my wife”s grandparents. Some of it is just ok….some really good. This one “I love Paris” is decent. All of these albums were really dirty….and I had to put it through 2 spin clean cycles.

Goro Ito and Jacques Morelenbaum "Rendezvous in Tokyo"

This is an amazing recording. It sounds fantastic. And the music is great. I especially like the beautiful "How Insensitive" . . . .

The new DAC has 500 hours on it now, what owners seem to view as a consensus number signifying break-in. I love the sound. I think I may put the Audio Magic M-1 fuse I bought in February within it.

A change of tubes in the Monoblocks (input positions) and a different sonic perspective. It amazes the heck out of me what a tube change does for the system with these Decware components.

This is in part why I do NOT and will not stream, so much of what I want to listen to is not available on streaming.

I bought that disc about two years ago via Dusty Groove in Chicago www.dustygroove.com -- they are the best source I know in America for Brazilian music. It is not in stock there now. I have also known it to appear on eBay. There is a copy right now on amazon under Ito's name. I've never seen the cd. . . cheap.

I've been a fan of Jefferson Airplane (Starship, not) and Hot Tuna . . . I liked California rock til the Eagles and all that countrified pop stuff. But then I kept getting deeper and deeper into jazz and I just kept going in that direction. Discovered Brazilian music, and then got back into Classical (my Dad always was into that and it was inevitable I would be) but other than Yes, Jimi, Dylan, Airplane, Tuna and a few others. . . rock doesn't hold much appeal to me. And I really really really don't like 'eighties stuff.

Just got done listening to side two of BST. Starts with spinning Wheel, but it is the 3rd track on that steals me from any movement until it's done. The recording is quiet and beautifully done. And of course the music, well, I am still tingling from those sax, bass, drum, and vocal solos, not to mention the organ solo at the beginning. Puts me in such a state of mind. I am very fortunate to have my hearing still available enough for this, and a system that is far beyond what I have struggled with in the past.

I've put an Audio Magic M-1 fuse in my PS Audio DSD DAC Mk2. . .a very nice change. I don't think I've ever heard better sound.

Hope you can locate an affordable copy. Finding Brazilian music to purchase can be difficult. Sometimes it is ridiculously expensive and I've decided sometimes to purchase, and other times to wait. On the flip side sometimes several people are selling high priced items, but another may have one darn cheap. Part of the fun I think is the hunt, the other fun is there are so many great recordings to hear.

I myself buy anything I can with Jacques or Paula Morelenbaum, or with them both together as they were in Jobim's final band.

Well, Friday my life changed. Lucinda walked off her job. Not entirely unexpected as she has been very unhappy for some time and certain factors were coming to a head.

She'll probably go out and find another job, after a deserved rest. So I won't have my days to myself during the week as I have been blessed to have and my listening will be curtailed somewhat. And I'll be listening to headphones a bit more often--which is okay as I have three great pairs of headphones and three stations to listen to headphones at in the house.

Spring is finally here--that beautiful lime green new growth of leaves is beginning to show in the forest that is across from us and the wooded lots in this sparsely-housed neighborhood. Most of the "snow birds" in the houses around us are back from Florida and places south. We had a mild winter yet with stronger winds than any other year so far. . .I think we'll have a hotter summer than usual.

I have an hour or so to listen so I chose this cd by Flora Purim that I haven't heard for a while, "Speak No Evil." The system sounds fantastic!
