I'd buy a few discs of just Ellington playing the piano in this studio at this session. Such great sound, and such interesting pianism.

Mono version of the remastered Beatles from '09 I think it was.

I bought the stereo version when it came out.
About five years later a friend offered to sell me his, because he hated it. He bought the mono version "by mistake." They're clearly marked and marketed as such.
So I have both, now.
Using my bigish garage system, today.

I know I have this on a hard drive somewhere. I wanted to hear it and all I could find was an LP. Stole the pic.

Everything from about 50 or 60Hz and up sounds great, but I want to pull out a subwoofer and hook it up to remember how it used to sound on older gear.
Still a great album!

I have number of British albums that are really bass shy. They must have used some beefy, low heavy monitors during mix down.
For our final mixes, we checked things using sealed 5" single drivers two feet away in an effort to make it all sound right on the car radios of the day. But what did we know?

Enjoying some late night listening with Eva Cassidy. Her voice, pitch, control, dynamics, phrasing, ... I could keep going... Eva was truly amazing. Too bad most of us didn't know that until she was already gone.

Can I get an amen
AMEN!
Amazing Grace is a 2018 concert film "realized and produced" by Alan Elliott. The film's footage was shot under the direction of Sydney Pollack, who does not receive directorial credit, just a "special thanks." Amazing Grace stars Aretha Franklin recording her 1972 live album of the same name. It co-stars James Cleveland, Alexander Hamilton, and the Southern California Community Choir, and features her father C. L. Franklin.

The film was not released as scheduled in 1972 due to difficulty in synchronizing the audio with the visual print, and was relegated to a Warner Bros. vault until 2007, when producer Alan Elliott purchased the raw footage and attempted to synchronize it. The edited footage, 87 minutes in length, was planned for a 2011 release. However, Franklin sued Elliott for appropriating her likeness without permission, and the release date passed. Elliott made another attempt in 2015 to hold the film's premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, at the Toronto International Film Festival, and at the Chicago International Film Festival, but Franklin sued him again for reasons that have not been revealed. After Franklin's death in 2018, her family made an arrangement to release the film, which premiered at Doc NYC in 2018, before being released worldwide on April 5, 2019. The film has received critical acclaim. You Tube HD 1080

You have to get all those permissions first, Joe.

Something you learn along the way.
I have a book I wrote in my 40s, relaying many funny and some serious things I lived through on the road with my old sound company.
Never published, I have it stored away with three nicely notarized permissions from great artists along with twelve very lawyery sounding "Cease and Desist" orders docked by judges from all over the states.

I had fun writing it and I kind of needed to write it all out at the time.
I still like the bands whose lawyers got crappy about my seeking their permission to use names and pics I took, MY OWN pics, I can't use forever.
One order was so "detailed" it was meant to prevent me from EVER mentioning the band in public ever again.
So, if I say The Ramones had a really good lawyer, that could technically get me into hot water again. So, I won't do that. I learned some law, too.
True story!
I still like the bands!
Grin

BTW, I enjoyed the vid you posted. I'll play it again once I hook a computer up to my mono stack in my shop.

Romain is playing a 1936 Epiphone Deluxe, unplugged, with a Dunlop gator pick 0.71mm. The guitar is strung with D'Addario Nickel Bronze 12-53, and the sound is captured by both a Neumann TLM 103 and a Bluebird microphone.

My first exposure to Alice Coltrane. I bought it because I knew who she was, but I had no idea what I was buying.
LP from '69 and as you can see I've kept mine in better than average condition. Sorry for the homemade pic.
Just one more, going through some of my old ones.

I like that one, too. I think I have all her work, although three are on CD.

Still going through old vinyl I haven't heard for a while for now.

I found this on AAJ, originally, went looking for a CD and could only find a Digi download available. More looking to follow, but liked it and wanted to hear the whole thing, so I download the FLAC file. I like this a lot.

This page will allow a listen if you become curious.

Classic rock at its finest. It’s almost unbelievable how great the vinyl sounds.

Love this album... straightforward and to the point Tenor-centric Big Band jazz.

I have grown into Deodato as well.

For now, I'm going back to some classical, Stravinsky.
It's challenging and I am still assessing my modifications of earlier today.

Spinning this one, one of my favorite Dead albums from the time period when I was most into them. I wanted to hear "Cassidy" and "Black Throated Wind," my two favorite Bobby songs.

Same Old DD The Rite of Spring conducted by Antal Dorati was perhaps my first foray into the Mercury Living Presence recordings. I have 3 different LP's of it, a few others as well. I remember sitting and actively listening for the first time and how much I was emotionally affected by the performance.
These you tube uploads do not give the recordings justice but seek them out, there are many re-issues
Part 1 https://youtu.be/HNaxJVYz2hY
Part 2 https://youtu.be/fb10BMq4mS0

Lenny Bernstein's is a favorite as well, I believe he has 3 different versions but the one you posted is my favorite of LB's

Thanks, Joe,
"I'll be on the look out."
Wink

Other than some downloads, like the Antal Dorati,  "Rite Of Spring"  you mention, my Stravinsky library is embarrassingly shy. That piece was recommended to me many times btw and (thank goodness and you, too), I finally downloaded a FLAC file which is not too bad.  I've downloaded more than that one version, too.
LP version has been on the wish list for a while.
Thanks!

This LB I'm using is the version with which  I am most familiar listening deeply.
I stirred up my listening room today, so it's time to find Square One, again, for me.
So, I'm using my most familiar for now.
I did run that FLAC file again though, at your suggestion.
