I'm going to say right out that I don't want to be teased any further about my music selection, guys. Please, let me be me and find a way to tolerate my existence.

I am listening to a contractually obligatory night by John Williams, recorded straight off my mixing board, about two months before he was awarded an Oscar for his Star Wars Theme. It is a trio of piano (that's John), bass, tenor/bari/flute. It is good jazz, in my book, if a bit high brow in its conception.

Wasn't sure if this will go here but it's what I would consider spinning Grin

After the release of the Indiana Jones Crystal Skull movie, John Williams released the entire Indiana Jones Soundtracks Collection.
It's not just the normal songs heard on all the JW collections but the little pieces during the films. The songs sound like new arrangements, but I wouldn't quote me, I only have 3 posts. A couple of my favorites to share with you:

I have not heard that particular collection, as a complete work, but I will be right there with you, when I can. I explore his efforts as a way of pursuing my own personal conception of neoclassical work. Long live John Williams!!
I can NOT speak highly enough, so I will not even try. Suffice it to say that he is a part of my heart.
Please, tell us more.

I am going through some Quincy Jones, just now. Some is private, some is well known. I plan to get through my entire collection before I move on.

I tend to do such, upon odd occasions of obsession.

Yes, I love this amp. It's a fantastic guitar amp. And an "okay" bass amp. There's better. I'd love to have a Bassman 300 Pro, and a 2 x 15" cabinet. I may in the future. I'm playing more and more bass. And less and less guitar. I'm thinking of selling five or six guitars and basses and a couple of amps and getting a really good bass rig and then putting a fork in me and proclaiming myself done.

I've been collecting a lot lately and making discoveries and finding what I really want and need for the future. It's fun!

Now if only Steve's DAC doesn't cost an arm and a leg. . . .

This and the Bremen-Lausanne concert box changed my listening world when they came out in the 'Seventies. And I still buy Jarrett. I have almost all his work. He just released a three cd solo set that should arrive at my mailbox soon. A friend of mine called it "dense." That sounds promising.

I'm at my girlfriend's right now and she has the tv on a sports channel. Sigh. NO music right now.

I have no problem proclaiming my enjoyment as well as love for JW music. For me the Music made the movie, not the other way around. I have to say I'm currently on the Danny Elfman train as his compositions are darker. Glad to see many people on here enjoying all types of music. Although I am sure I would be one of the very few who would be going from JW to heavier Rock. I will have to post some of those soon.

For now I am enjoying:

I'm not a fan of sports on TV. I spent my adolescence in Africa, and I didn't get addicted to American sports. Or watching them on tv. I can see playing sports, I can see watching your family or friends play sports, just not watching national sports on tv. BORING.
