Yeah, htis is a four cd set of the rehearsals before that Dylan and Dead tour. Very interesting. At times it seems that Garcia and the Dead know the tunes better than Dylan!  He really fluffs the words and the singing, but it's in good sound and fascinating.  Garcia really was probably the best interpreter of Dylan there was.  I love how he played guitar on these.

I bought the Black Box, Remaster (stereo version) when it came out.

I hesitated for a couple of days (I do some work where we sell the damn things and we sold out our supply of twenty four copies within the first three hours after we opened that morning - two days later, our stock was replenished by an overnight Fed-Ex delivery. I set one aside for my own use.) and ultimately decided that my curiosity was more of a problem with which to contend than the limits I have personally placed upon my music enjoyment budget, especially considering that there are four albums in the set which I genuinely treasure and at least one song on every other album that I find has become a part of my life.

Nat Cole was a master, and Capitol was a very canny label.  Haven't really been someone that does the same for me since.  I have about thirty cds of his so I guess I'm a fan!  Recently the audiophile pressers have been releasing his stuff and there are new fans.  I haven't bought any of the audiophile releases.

I think that the IT Radials are surprisingly at their best on intimate material like this or solo piano or solo cello or solo guitar etc. Not that they aren't wonderful with complete orchestras blaring away, the most unflappable speakers on big complex material I've ever owned. But they're also just so delicately caressing of solo material.  And Neil Young is a true master of acoustic guitar and piano sound.  He knows how to make each individual instrument sing its personal sweet song.  A real technician, and yet also an emotional performer who can project emotion with a hammer or a feather.  A true artist.

There's lots of talk of these on the Steve Hoffman forum.  I remember being excited about the Dire Straits when the lp first came out in the seventies.  A great new voice on guitar was Mark Knopfler!

Not only Marks voice, but his guitar playing.  It just draws you in.

Had to chuckle when I saw your post on "Yes".  I had just listened to Yes's "Yesterdays" the day before (CD).

I've been ripping old tapes like a madman in recent weeks. I pulled out some ancient "endgame"  tapes of Spooky Tooth from my first year as a sound engineer.

My old four track recording (via antique Crown) sounds better than I would ever have imagined it could have.

(I have not heard these tapes since early in the eighties, when I decided to NOT record over them, because they were pleasing to me at the time)

Where would I go about finding discs 1-4 of the Mosaic Set "Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions (MD12-170)." This incomplete set was thrown in with a Jimmy Giuffre set that I bought on ebay.  Singles from sets turn up now and then.
