I always thought a line from "Idiot Wind" resonates wth me "I can't help it if I'm lucky." She does a good renditon of "Idiot Wind" here.

I'm listening to this disc yet again, I'm stuck here for now in this box set.

The dynamics in this 'fifties mono recording keep impressing me. And the music really connects me lately. I'll move forward in this box set soon.

Some interesting music--I bet the sound is great, especially with a Decware system.

On to this disc, partly just guitar, voice, bass and occasional harmonica, a good test for the Swiss Digital Fuse box "difference." The sound has really tightened up since it was first installed, very similar now to the sound with the Audio Magic M-1 with a bit more center-fill (odd perhaps) and a slightly gentler presentation (welcome).

One of six albums that just came in on back order from October…..Eddie Higgins Trio “ A Handful of Stars” on double LP.  I pretty much now have his entire collection on vinyl…great dinner music.  

Lon….how is “ Speaking of Jobim”?  That one I don’t have…and it’s going for a lot on vinyl and I refuse to pay what they are asking.  

Edit:   I just found it on Qobuz….I’ll stream it tomorrow.  Today is a vinyl only day 😁😁

Duke Ellington and his Orchestra "Ellington Jazz Party" Columbia mono LP



Sounding very good. One of these days I need to get a stereo LP 'fifties release (I have two stereo cd releases).

Alfred Lion, co-owner and producer of Blue Note Records from 1939 to about 1969 was a different sort of record producer (in a good way). Not only would he pay for rehearsals so that these records could be recorded with so much precision and energy, but he also recorded albums for musicians at times when he was unable to release them to in part support the artists when needed and to as a fortunate consequence have a backlog of material to draw from if needed. Many of these albums unreleased at the time came out after his retirement and after he sold the company, much to our benefit. About five Mobley albums fall into that category. Sadly, some of these came about I believe because the artists had "habits" and needed the money. And the "habits" took their toll and we lost them sooner than we should have.
