This box set of additional material around the album "Time Out of Mind" is one of hte best of the Bootleg Series releases. Now listening to the disc of live recordings of the albums tracks, disc 4.

A few years ago I made my Blue Note recordings harder to find (almost all my collection is in bookcases where I have four rows of cds, two behind and two in front, so the Blue Note were put in rows behind others) as I was playing them so often, but now it's time to listen to more Blue Notes, especially the 24bit by RVG series from Japan, so I moved those to front rows of a book case.

Kenny and Hank are always a good combo! Add Philly Joe and you have a hard bop showcase.

I put the second one in the ZROCK2 in the audio-visual system, and ordered another for ZROCK2 in the headphone only system.

Gene Ammons "1949-1950" Chronogical Classics cd

Some discussion on the organissimo forum about Gene Ammons has made me grab some cds from the shelves to listen to. This one has some great 78s from Mercury, Chess and Aristocrat. It always amazes me how these French cds from Chronogical Classics sound better and better as my system seasons and improves.

Just came in the mail today. Acquired from Discogs… a brand new album of Stan Getz meets Jerry Mulligan Japanese import. This has been a favorite for a long time now and I know this album very well….so I had to get this as an import.

All I can say is wow! Besides being quiet, the channel separation is so more detailed than the digital counterpart. The saxophones sing with great clarity and have nice air. The piano keystrokes are lifelike and the soundstage is nice and wide. I am actually enjoying this with the ZROCK2 bypassed.

Miles Davis "Big Fun" Columbia 2 LP set

My phono playback is back in action. . . playing the original 2 LP copy I bought in '74. "Ife" followed by "Great Expectations." This material was a real ear-opener to me at the time and was one of four or five Miles Davis releases that led me down the jazz rabbit hole I have been following ever since.
