"Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane – The Complete 1957 Riverside Recordings" disc 1

This set has lived in my car a long time as it's perfect to pop one disc in on the way to my Dad's and one in for the way back home--and provides a jazz kick and an intellectual snack for the trip. Today I took it out of the car to listen to on the main system. Boy does it sound great!

Great new stuff on the horizon for Decware. But i'm so happy I've been following Decware for over 20 years and have the system I have now. I just play music and marvel and dream and think and enjoy. I'm set and happily so.

Right now, a relisten to disc 2 of this great 2 cd set.

Roy Hargrove and Mulgrew Miller "In Harmony"

In harmony is right. These two were so right together for these performances.

Reply #20611 - 08/13/21 at 13:33:02 "The Greatest Jazz Concert in the World" OJC/Pablo 3 cd set, disc 2 Sorry, this one does not live up to its title but which one would? I like these performances though, this disc is all Ellington Orchestra. John Lamb was on bass for a good stretch of the 'sixties, and I really admire his tone and ideas and how he anchors the band.

Richard Sears Sextet (featuring Al "Tootie" Heath) "Altadena" These compositions and arrangements remind me of both Charles Mingus and Wynton Marsalis small ensemble recordings. A very nice disc.

What may be my favorite Betty Carter album, the wonderful "I'm Yours. You're Mine" which showcases her supreme artistry as a singer, a song selector, an arranger and band leader (and also talent scout).

Yesterday afternoon I tolerated the heat upstairs and I spent a little time with my turntable setup and spun a few LPs. I'm continuing this morning with this one, not an original by any means, a 180 gram pressing I bought really cheap about 7 years ago, possibly a Scorpio boot. Doesn't sound great. Doesn't sound bad either.

Still saving up for an anniversary but as an opportunity to persuade me a Decware can deliver on rock, pop, electronica, funk, metal, soul etc. and not just the jazz and classical suggested by one or two reviewers this thread makes for a sobering read.

Only Prince not jazz in recent months. I love my jazz and classical but surely owners have broader tastes than this? Persuade me please.

I have mainly been a jazz listener since I began collecting records and cds years ago. I had a rock phase, played drums in a few rock bands, but my interest in rock really waned after the 'eighties--performing in bands for drunk frat boys etc. just made me lose interest. Rock and funk I associate more with my youth and the appeal is not the same for me any longer, just how it is. I listen to classical too, I don't always chronicle all that I listen to, and I listen to a lot of Brazilian music, some of which would have the impact and rawer sound of rock. I used to listen to blues and soul and do a bit more than rock, but it's jazz that I really crave most and study and listen to.

I think the Zen amps can be placed in a system that will make any style of music come alive, a lot depends on the speaker efficiency and the room and the listener's position. I have a room and speakers and a positioning that reflect the fact that I do not listen extremely loud, ever. There are really only a handful of people who chronicle their listening in this thread, and not all are using Zen amps. And due to my musical tastes there is not a real accurate picture of other musical styles to give an idea of what the amps would sound like with them. Perhaps start a separate thread where persons who listen more "heavily" such as Donnie and Geno et al can weigh in?

ZROCK gives tonal control when added. Adding a CSP3 gives flexibility. Combine all 3 weight of the music is adjustable. Anniversary models help with the mains power input. What goes in comes out.
