Started off with this one again. Once you fully embrace the fact that this is a film soundtrack tribute album in important ways, and accept the instrumentation, arrangements and "drama," there is much to enjoy here, especially in the guitar and piano solos, and there's also a prog-rock feel to portions that appeals to the long-unprovoked old prog rock fan in me. It's definitely not geared towards audiophiles as far as mastering, reminds me of recordings that used to sound great when I had bookshelf speakers and now sound way too thick and rich. This does give an impact to the music that the arrangements and the engineers take advantage of.
Albare, "Dreamtime"
Then moved on to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, "3 Blind Mice, Volume 2" Blue Note cd
This is an early cd and I heard that the moment I popped it in, I have Volume 1 in a better sounding version and wish I had this one as well. But no denying these are exciting performances and the band is putting it all out there to get on the record. I wish I could hear Jymie Merritt just a bit more.
