More from this new box set.

I'm just really beginning to experience the new box set, but I can already tell it's worth it just for the different renditions of Desolation Row and Visions of Johana. AND. . . well there's so much to explore here.
A lot of people are disappointed that they don't have the set, apparently though this is in no way a limited edition set, and it's not wholly available officially as digital downloads from iTunes etc. Sony did not print enough to meet the unexpected demand. I'm really happy to see so much interest in this set. Many are waiting for a repress. I was fortunate to order right away and get a copy in the mail the day after release.
I haven't listened to any of the electric sets yet, want to get a good sense of some of the acoustic sets and then move on into some electric sets.
This is a really great reissue from Sony. It's a copyright extension set that is making some money for them at the same time as securing their claim to the material. And I think they found the right price point and packaging philosophy with this one. This would bode well for the future, and other record companies will get/have gotten the idea as well.
