CSP3 volume pot noise? (Read 1109 times)

Reply #1 - 11/28/21 at 23:43:54 The Master control on my CSP3 and my ZMA pot (probably the same make and model) have been scratchy at times. I find if I turn them several times back and forth through their full range the scratchiness goes away. I think there must develop some kind of oxidation that gets cleaned of by doing this.

After a few years of use, my CSP3 also developed scratchy pots, but Caig deoxit completely eliminated the scratchiness. I also had this scratchy experience with a Cary Audio preamp that I used for approximately 15 years. Do not let a little oxidation scare you away. The CSP3 is an incredible preamp, and I really can’t imagine my system without it.

I have had our CSP3 and Rachael (which both have volume pots) for about 5 years or so and have never had a problem with them. If it were to show up, I would just DeOxit which has taken care of my guitars, Moog and a million guitar amps. Not a worry. Happy listening, Chris. P.S. the CSP# is the best preamp I have ever had in my system.
