Title: CSP3 volume pot noise?
Post by VanVino on 11/28/21 at 20:15:32

Hi, I am interested in the preamp CSP3, but I have read some comments elsewhere that the volume pot is noisy, does anyone have this problem?
Thanks!

The Master control on my CSP3 and my ZMA pot (probably the same make and model) have been scratchy at times.  I find if I turn them several times back and forth through their full range the scratchiness goes away.  I think there must develop some kind of oxidation that gets cleaned of by doing this.

After a few years of use, my CSP3 also developed scratchy pots, but Caig deoxit completely eliminated the scratchiness.  I also had this scratchy experience with a Cary Audio preamp that I used for approximately 15 years.  Do not let a little oxidation scare you away.  The CSP3 is an incredible preamp, and I really can’t imagine my system without it.

I have had our CSP3 and Rachael (which both have volume pots) for about 5 years or so and have never had a problem with them. If it were to show up, I would just DeOxit which has taken care of my guitars,  Moog and a million guitar amps. Not a worry. Happy listening, Chris. P.S. the CSP# is the best preamp I have ever had in my system.
