I'm glad Jeff posted that link to your tube rolling thread - that's a great room to work in! And I love those rectifier tubes! I looked at those, but couldn't find any at decent prices, nor could I find the voltage drop specs. I didn't want to change my little Zen amp too much - and my ZMA is solid state rectifier due to the giant caps.

Your listening room is beautiful, but is an echo chamber, Ed. While you're stressing about some hum, you have no idea how much you're missing in that echo chamber. You'd be shocked at the loss of detail being muddled by your room.

I do hope you figure our your hum issue though. I've played with several Decware amps over 20 years, and the noisiest used to be my little Zen amp - but that was corrected with an update; any other hum was environmental.

What I have found there!

From rectifiers pin 5 there is resistor (going to 47uF cap). On the right side the value is 68R and on the left side 6.8K 😳 As we all know, Torii is dual mono amp, so both sides should be identical. And I was wondering for 4 years why I have to add some extra gain from my pre-amp to the left channel (I thought it is because of my room..). Just for this reason this project was worth doing!

Now, who can tell me which value is the right one, 68R or 6.8K?

Pin 5 is not used on the rectifier circuit. Pin 5 is used on the voltage regulator, I think you need to examine the circuit a little closer.

Wow! Fast work!

Guess what? NO HUM OR ANY NOISE AT FULL VOLUME AT IDLE!!!! Whole system is death silent at idle when I put volume of DAC to full, preamp volume and gain to full and amplifier to full, all at same time 😍😍😍 and the sound 👌🏻 So fuckin* cristal clear and full of music, crazy separation of instruments and especially vocals (tested separation with: E.S.Posthumus - Nara (Theme to Cold Case), bass is not so ”dirty” as it was vefore (tested bass with song: Jennifer Warnes - Way down deep) 😳😳😳 And all components are still new, I can imagine what happens after burn in. THIS IS REALLY SOMETHING

If it was possible to do a presentation for you all, but it is impossible 😕. This amplifier now takes everything out of the Mullard EL37 and 6N23P tubes, uses for the first time 100% of potential. Especially the vocals are so present, so realistic so alive. To be honest, I must admit that I have never heard anything like that 😲 How effortlessly and airy the music is playing now. Definitely the biggest step forward in my system so far, undoubtedly. Now the music goes through the ears and trikes damn deep into your soul. For example, in duets, you can almost ”see” where the singers stand on the stage and how far apart from each other they are (in song: Brett Andersson - back to you). Crazy!

Can’t find anything negative to say. 8meters of pure silver wire + components (all in total bout 500€), 20-30h of work. Best ”bang for a buck”!

NB! However, I must warn you that such modification is not easy at all to do and you must have a lot of experience in electrical installations. Do not blame me if you kill someone or burn your house!

I'm so glad you are happy with it! I was really concerned it would get harsh with all those component swaps.  It sounds like you're really happy with it, and ultimately, that's what matters.

Now, go deal with your room acoustics - you have no excuses! LOL

🎷🎸🎻🎺What an amazing resault!!! After CSP2 + modifications (caps + resistors + pure silver wires...) I can really tell you I'm in Heaven! I'm sorry but I really thought that it was impossible to improve any more (after modifications I maid to my Torii), I was wrong, I’m out of superlatives now. Practically everything improved a lot, but perhaps the most biggest improvement in the sound of strings as well as in violins (highest notes), they are now really natural, if possible everything is also much more defined and more present. I'm not quite sure what a single thing affected this outcome the most, but I suspect that the biggest benefit came from the fact that I actually added a high-quality bypass capacitor to every capacitor (I changed all original caps and added additional bypass cap to every capacitor). I tested my system without preamp, it was ”half empty”. This CSP2+ is so magical amplifier!

Now I'm very annoyed, why I did not make these modifications earlier!? For about 700-800€ (in total for components of both amps) and 25h hours of work, this really was worth doing! THE BIGGEST ADDITION EVER! If I compare this mod with tube rolling, with tube rolling you achive only marginal changes.
