As this is a dramatically growing problem in modern homes,
why could not this be added to all amplifiers by default? Only two diods and two capacitors, to prevent possible DC-offset hum. In any cases, it will only clean the mains, no negative effect on sound.
There is always some DC in the AC circuit, often it is not that disturbing so it's worth the trouble to find out the source of that hum.
