KT66 vs. EL34 in TORII JR

Has anyone determined/inquired whether or not the KT66 can be used in this amp?

The Reason EL34's were selected for the TORII JR is because they seem to be the best sounding and have the most power with the custom UFO ultra-linear transformers.  TORII's have always been an EL34 based design until the MK4 where I felt the better linearity and lower gain of the KT66 was a better fit.  In the TORII JR I liked them all, but since the bass is equally tight with all the output tubes I tried, the CCE aka Hazen Grid Mod became more apparent than ever so EL34 is the stock tube in this amp.

[color=#ffffff]The amp uses a fixed bias set to the ideal mills (40) for this particular amp using EL34's.  There will be a single screw adjustment for bias making it possible to re-bias the amplifier for tubes like the KT66 or 6L6 or KT77.

The advantage of making it a fixed bias design is the ability to get the tube dialed in much tighter and without the heat related drift of a potentiometer.  A  more purist approach.

I'm over half done with the owner's manual as I write this. Smiley
