Is 6922 Gold Lion input tube compatible w/ SE84ZS?

Hello,

I bought a Gold Lion 6922 input tube to use with my SE84ZS.

It produces loud humming noise (both speaker channels). The stock 6922 is nearly dead quiet (produces the same type of hum as the Gold Lion but much much quieter).

(With the Gold Lion in, the amplifier still plays music).

Is it a compatibility issue or do I just have a bad tube?

Reply #1 - 08/10/13 at 17:19:26 Where did you get the Lion from? I think you need a whip and a chair and then it probably wouldn't even work. It is undoubtedly a bad tube. It is probably oscillating in that circuit. I heard that the current ZEN pushes the 6922 to its limits so that might be part of it.
