Ha! The incredible Jack Teagarden was known by several nicknames. . ."Jack" itself was given as Weldon Leo was too much of a mouthful for his first employer, and he was called "Jackson" (mainly I think because Louis Armstrong called him that) and also Mr. T. So he was the OG Mr. T.

Yes, that's a great album; I got rid of the individual recordings I had when I got the Mosaic set--a fascinating treasure trove in excellent sound.

Listening to Kenny Burrell, "The Tender Gender" on the Cadet label (related to the Chess Records label that released blues music):

While I don't recall seeing anyone post about this album, it is (to my ears) another great Burrell recording. It was recorded in 1966, but it looks like it might not have been released until the mid-1970s. I bought it used around 1980 - I knew of Kenny Burrell, and was looking for Chess Records blues recordings, so decided to take a chance on it (which worked out for me this time!).

By the way, I had the Yes album "Tales from Topographic Oceans" around that time, but sold it to buy blues records. I remember liking it, and thinking that it was very much like classical music (though I wonder if I would hear it the same way today).

That's a good Burrell record! As with many Checker and Argo releases my copy is noisy. . . I will seek out a cd version one of these days, it's been out in Japan on cd.

And Tales of Topographic Oceans has been with me on LP since its release, and I have digital versions as well. Yes is one of the few bands of my youth I still listen to with frequency. Steve Howe's guitar playing always fascinates me. . . he was a master, and had a unique approach.

Right now

Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" Legacy 2 cd and 1 DVD edition. I'm listening to disc 2, the alternate and single version tracks.
