Reply #29550 - 10/26/26 at 20:00:08 I finally picked up a copy of the Craft cd of the Savoy title "Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra." Sounds really good (mastered by Paul Blackmore). But so does the Savoy/Denon cd I've had since that was first released. It's one of my favorite Sun Ra discs.

Reply #29551 - 10/26/26 at 20:47:05 I pulled this one out of the shelves this morning. Hard not to love Wingy Manone's joyous playing. Some really good 78s on this one. A cool morning out there, felt nice. Starting off with Bob Dylan "Planet Waves," the second Dylan I purchased, on LP. I love the arrangements here with the band, and these songs paint a little world I really want to inhabit.

There's a coolness to this next one that led me to pick it from the shelves. I haven't spun this release in some time! Just a quiet fire to this collaborative material, masters producing masterful collaborations. Miles appears on the first five selections and Lee on the first six. Teddy Charles seems the leader of the remaining session.

Reply #29558 - Today at 00:40:47 A cool morning, Tobi was excited to patrol the back yard for a few minutes. Just when I was thinking "I should have put on a jacket" he was ready to come in for breakfast. Re-listening to this "Stan Tracey Spectrum--Tribute to Thelonious Monk" 3 cd set, disc 1. Great sound and interesting interpretations.
