Now onto the dreamy sound of Al Caiola "Deep in a Dream" on Savoy/Denon cd. This series from Denon sounds so good on my system!

From October 1955. I was just a few months old.

Bass – Clyde Lombardi
Drums – Kenny Clarke
Guitar – Al Caiola
Piano – Hank Jones
Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Bernie Privin

Al was a jazz guitarist who seemed to use both pickups often. I like that.

I listened to a few discs yesterday I haven't chronicled, as I was working on nearly the last boxes of cds from the storage unit (which I am continuing this morning).

It's colder out this morning; I put on one of my favorite flannel shirts which is feeling really nice right now. Started off with disc 9 from the Grateful Dead "Summer Magic 1985" box set.

I have been going through boxes of cds that have been in storage and separating 2 cds in double cd cases into single cases to sell, and putting a lot of early jazz and swing cds into binders for space-saving storage. So in the last weeks I've been handling many Chronogical Classics cds (as well as Frog, Retreival, The Old Masters, Timeless Historical et al cds) and man the Classics are a great series. I just now put one on that I was going to put into a binder but couldn't--it's so good, Howard McGhee "1948" that has Savoy, Vogue, Blue Star and Blue Notes sides--Howard at his "Dizziest" and great compadres in the sessions.

Eddie Condon "1944 - Jam Sessions" Jazzology 2 cd set, disc 1

This is an amazing set. (I also have the 2 LP version--both sound great).

A bit of a nuisance with false starts, breakdowns etc--one day I need to make cdrs of the complete takes. But this crew and this music is worth many listens.

Baritone Saxophone – Ernie Caceres
Bass – Bob Casey, Bob Haggart
Clarinet, Bass Saxophone – Pee Wee Russell
Cornet – Bobby Hackett
Drums – George Wettling, Joe Grauso
Guitar, Vocals – Eddie Condon
Piano – Gene Schroeder, Joe Bushkin
Trombone – Wilbur De Paris
Trombone, Vocals – Jack Teagarden
Trumpet – Billy Butterfield, Max Kaminsky
Vocals – Lee Wiley, Red McKenzie
