I concur…I love listening through my headphones. I started out at 6 AM with finishing up a Netflix movie and some music on my Grado’s. I switched over to my tube system to enjoy the new 6CA7 Shaguang’s I got from Roger.

I woke up a bit ago and couldn't shut my brain off. The constant dripping of water from the roof (about ten inches of snow and ice melting consistently) didn't help me slip back into slumber. . . so I decided to get up and listen. Never a waste of time or attention to listen to music, for me at least.

Started off with Earl "Father' Hines "Reunion in Brussels" on Red Baron cd. What a force Hines was! An endless stream of swing with passion.

A tribute to Nat King Cole's pianism in a way, great selection of compositions.

Another early morning that it was hard to fall back asleep and I just went with a bit of TV ("Dark Winds" is back) and now the system is on.

Decided to start the day off with some Bird. I have not listened to a lot of later Bird this decade and decided to put the final disc of this box set into the transport.

Charlie Parker "The Complete Verve Master Takes" disc 3

Fully formed and mature Bird, powerful tone and as fluid and fascinating as a world class figure skater. No wonder he commanded so much respect and was so influential.

That choir singing "Old Folks" always cracks me up. They get the vibe of the song and then Charlie just takes it somewhere else. I love Willard Robinson tunes.

Just as I fell asleep last night a sheet of ice and snow broke free from the roof and crashed onto the deck with a huge wall of sound. If that had not happened early last month I would have been as worried and freaked out as I was then!

Yes "Tales from Topographic Oceans" Super Deluxe Edition. cd 5 of 12, the first cd of the instrumentl mixes. Fascinating to hear this music (remixed) without the vocals.

Jose James "On and On" Rainbow Blonde US cd

This is an homage to the music of Erykah Badu and James gets the vibe just right with his own imprint. I had a quite expensive Japanese cd of this and then discovered there was an inexpensive US version, which I just got in--it will be part of a birthday present for my best friend in Austin.

Sounds really good!
