Today I've been on a Warren Zevon jag.
Currently "Life Will Kill Ya" is playing. I always considered it as the album that marked his "comeback" after years of silence.



On a personal note, I've spent the last month or so getting poked, prodded, CT scanned, MRI'ed and Biopsied.
Hopefully this week I will speak to the surgeon that will take the bad giblets out of me.
Interestingly the surgeon has a whole page on his website talking about using music to cure people.
I can get behind that thought.

It's going to be a bit on the warmer side today, up to 40 degrees, the high from yesterday. Still feels cold . . . I'm thinking of a sweater! (Not something I normally wear).

Starting off with the warm Brazilian sound of "Quarteto Jobim-Morelenbaum"--graceful, expertly played Jobim music by his son and some of his favorite band mates.

Unfortunately other than doing a bit of isolation component shifting I didn't get to spend time with the system yesterday. I missed it! I hope to get a little time in today. Everything changes when I don't listen to enough music.

Starting off a cold morning with "Hal Wilner Presents Weird Nightmare--Meditations on Mingus." This recording has fascinated me for decades with its use of instruments developed by Hary Partch. A very interesting release--and I love the Mingus music at its core.

My kind of ECM album.

Chilly rain. . . this will demolish what remains of the recent 13" plus of snow we had. Warm for January this morning, with a cooler front moving in this afternoon.

I decided to start the day with a Miles Davis bootleg--Miles Davis "Howlin'--Kyoto, July 15, 1964" EGHO cd. Not perfect sound, but decent, and Sam Rivers on tenor for one of his few recorded gigs with the Quintet. Interestingly this concert was recorded outside in the rain. . . so the slightly intrusive sound of the rain here, now,  is appropriate.
