This is the first I've heard Ms Henderson, bought because Joel Ross is part of the supporting quartet. Wow, what a graceful phrasing and voice that draws one in. Such a pity her other albums are so expensive to collect!

This is a 2 cd set from Norway. The first disc is a best of Pacific Jazz compilation, the second disc is a collection of rare recordings from '84 to '88,
six from Norway, one from Paris, France. Excellent sound on these rare tracks, great playing.

Stan Getz, along with Bob Welsh (a pitcher for the Dodgers, not the musician) were my heroes back in the day. And these albums were in heavy rotation with my friends in high school. But times change and tastes change and I sorta lost track of "1970s Getz" while listening to the 50s and 60s edition. But hearing them again has been more than just nostalgic, it has reacquainted me with some great music. Esp. Captain Marvel, with Chick Corea and and Stanly Clarke, is my idea of a dream team, YMMV. And they sound way better today then I thought possible.

This is one of my favorite Burrell albums. Great grooves. My present copy is a used cd. The former owner (R. Potter) wrote his name on the booklet, the disc and the back of the tray card in thick Sharpie. Never saw that before!

"Things Ain't What they Used to Be" right where it is is very effective.

A cooler morning, starting off a day that will only be in the mid-fifties. I like it, very comfortable up here in the listening room. The system sounds fantastic!

Re-listening to this one pulled out yesterday. It's really a very interesting re-interpretation of Ellington material. I've been resisting a long Ellington jag for a spell now. . .this is not helping!

When I lived in LA one of my buddies had a Japanese LP of Jobim's Stone Flower that he liked to use to demo his system. But after I moved up the coast I hadn't thought about it in many years until I saw Lon's post a few weeks ago. So I ordered it.

You're welcome. I'm really glad you enjoy it. That "CTI Supreme" series from King Records Japan is really cool as they are basically flat transfers and have the cool Blu-Spec CD format as well. I have a copy of the original LP on CTI and this cd sounds so much like it making allowances for the differing character of the two systems of playback in my system.

There are a few other Japanese versions I really like as well, both remastered by RVG for King, one on SHM-CD and one on UHQCD, subtly different, a bit warmer and bolder. I like to rotate the listening of the different versions; I love this music.
