Listening to
Grant Green on this hot Wednesday morning - perhaps inspired in part by the other Grant Green album posted above, and Hank Mobley's album "Workout" that includes Grant Green. First up is
"Sunday Mornin'" recorded in 1961, which I don't see mentioned much:

I like it a lot, including the melodic development of ideas which seem pretty understandable to me. I thought the rendition of "So What" (a song from Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" album) seemed particularly interesting, and was a highlight for me.
Followed it up with
Grant Green "Talkin' About" from 1964, a trio with Larry Young on organ:

This has been one of my least favorite Grant Green albums, but I wanted to revisit it to see if I feel differently about it now. I just don't "get" some of the material (though given how much Grant Green music I like, I think it is clear that the issue is more my understanding rather than the quality of the music).
