Trying out new tubes in place of my trusted old Amperex 7308s, Mazda PCC189. First tube that I have put in in a long time that I haven't wanted to put the 7308s back in quickly. In fact. . . I ordered another pair, they were cheap. A bit warmer than the 7308, a bit more of a classic tube sound with my current complement of other tubes, and not at all harsh or thin. Nice.

Lon, before going to bed yesterday, I listened to some of that previous album...I'll have to explore further. Spotify has two albums including that one. I spent all day listening via laptop/Monoblocks to Spotify. I'm amazed how good it sounds with this tiny Red Dragonfly DAC.

Some of the tubes you've spoken about recently, I had to look up...never heard of them. Amperex 6211 and Mazda PCC189. What vintage are the Mazdas and where were they made? $10 each is tempting but not sure I want to explore the 7DJ8 types.

First LP in the Cave is an Analogue Productions 33 RPM reissue...

PS...where did you put the Mazdas? In the Torii...CSP3?

6211 is a variant of 12AT7 and sounds very mellow in these Amperex brand in my Taboo Mk III, really like it.

The Mazda are English made. I like the sound so far. Not sure of the vintage. It's early on and I don't get to listen much over the weekend and this is a holiday weekend so it will be sometime next week before I am sure but I bet I like them. I have them in the Torii, I'm not using the CSP preamps at the moment--three of them stored under the bed!

I don't think it's too high personally when you consider the original price. I got a huge break from the then owner for a demo pair at 800 dollars when I got my first Cremona pair.
