It is quieter in here than a a turntable with the cue lever stuck up.

It is quieter in here than an anechoic chamber inside a black hole.

Quiet, not silent. There is some activity, but less than 3 or 4 years ago. Which is not what I would have predicted given the thousands of new Decware owners in that time.

I think a lot of people do check in still. But, especially certain times of the year, more folks are definitely outside. We are outside people. Sit too much indoors, butt gets sore.... Smiley

I concur… It’s definitely been quiet.  After a recent shoulder procedure to do some clean up from an old injury… I will be home for probably the next two months.  I definitely plan to do a lot of listening and posting more frequently.

I am now in the process of putting together a desktop system for my small office, which I have taken refuge after the procedure. I spent the last week before the surgery rearranging the office, adding a TV and soundbar, a bed, shelving, etc etc.

The desktop system is probably going to contain my pinnacle bookshelf speakers (which are probably too big), my AQ Dragonfly Red DAC, and I think I am going to outsource a small solid state or tube hybrid amp to keep me busy.

Well I looked back through the forums somewhat and it is quieter here than some years ago. IMO far from dead.

There are little surges when products ship and reach new hands and some of these join our discussions. I think that the very structure of bullten board forums has failed to capture new adopters and other forms of social media have grabbed many, though audiophiles seem less inclined to post on Decware's platforms. Maybe that will change one day. I'm not a phone person so don't know how that operates as a phone-based genre--my phone flips and is not connected to the niternet and I don't want one that does--don't work and don't need one for that, don't get out of the house emuch, and I'm geared towards a laptop, not a phone. I sometimes feel like I'm hearing echos here when I post, but many of my posts are just chronicling my listening which I also do on two other (jazz-centric) boards.  I guess I don't need to do that, haven't received an outcry against it, and I do enjoy seeing what others hear and how different that can be.

I'm glad the few, the proud, the stubborn still join in here.

Lon I applaud your persistence in posting, it gives me something to read.
But the reason I say it is quiet is because if you look back over the last 50 posts, it took 5 days to achieve them and of the 50, 25 are from you.

For some reason or another this place has lost a majority of it's posters.

For entertainment I have been reading Audio Science Review (where they only listen to music through calibrated microphone measurements) and they have had 50 posts in the last few days just hating Danny Ritchie from GR Research. There is a lot of vitriol out there, hate makes clicks!

I do like how (for the most part) around here everyone is civil and helpful.

Yes, I agree that it is quiet and I know I post a lot. I always have. . .others who used to don't, the ratio looks very uneven.

But it's not DEAD. I guess I am my father's son and grandmother's grandson--they were both language people and writers and sticklers for words and their meanings. This place is quiet and at times even quieter, but not DEAD.

I have observed that in the past, pre-long waiting list, persons would get a product and post about it and get comments and post again and get comments. . . now with such a long wait time persons on the list might check in . . . the first year or so. . .then when the item finally arrives they may . . . in many cases may NOT. . .check in but don't seem to stay and converse in the manner that one used to. I do see more comments about "incoming" and "arriving" components on the facebook page(s) than here. But those pages are even QUIETER than here, and not much discussion is carried on for more than a day or two.

It may be a sign of the times. It may be a sign of Decware's popularity as far as orders go, with the sometimes very frustrating long wait time.

When we had more activity here we did have some "strife" -- that did make the place seem "alive" but I too believe we are better off without that element.

Hey guys. I check in and read a bunch here. Firing up the ZMA at 11 AM CST for the day. I might need a heart valve/doing an echocardiogram June 3rd. Other than this.....healthy and grateful.

Took my SS at 62. I just received my first deposit last month. Fortunately, I can put all of it each month in GPIQ/ETF. My brother and I have been printing money the last 2.5 yrs. at 18, 21 & 22%. We will ride the tech till the AI bubble goes...... .

Cheers! Stone of Tone

It has been quieter than pre-covid times but So far this year I've signed on more members than at any previous time.  The forum is growing by several members every week, but most don't post.

I have also shifted much of my posting to Youtube videos, 53 so far, on topics I usually cover in this forum.  With over 2000 people on the waiting list, the videos are answering questions they will have while they wait as well as general information that will help them get the most out of their purchase when it does arrive.

Many of us Boomers are being replaced by people who only use their phones.  This is a desktop forum.   I have added social media and email sharing buttons to the posts so that you can at least now share a post to someone.

People are asking AI, like ChatGPT as an example, questions that they used to post here.  Sadly the answers are often wrong.  I have trained our own AI for this, and it does not have that issue.  It's been used a lot, and since it seems to be holding up, I'll probably take it to level two this winter if I get time. Still there is no substitute for real people, like the ones here.

Historically this is the time every year when posting slows because school is out, vacations, warm weather is starting, time to get outdoors.

And obviously, it is hard to post and listen at the same time, so it just means that all the thousands of people who read the forum every day, are listening to their stereo instead of posting.

"Many of us Boomers are being replaced by people who only use their phones.  This is a desktop forum......"

Phones  ;). Some relatives / friends get so pissed at me because my phone is usually dead, sitting inside my truck. Never was a phone type and I still am not..
Kathy makes me take one when I am alone now. A few serious health scares so I do understand.
I agree about the outdoors too. I have always been more of an outdoor person, even my jobs and career over the years. Off work time was very often running around in the woods/ hunting and fishing etc..no matter weather and temps too! But with age, not as active anymore. I do check in with a couple of forums. The first and a member since 1990's was the Klipsch forum. I remember a handful was all there was on back when it started. And then this much more recent Decware one for me.
The Klipsch one got huge and I don't recognize very many originals at all anymore. But, so many have helped over the years with music 'stuff', and Decware has turned out to be amazing too. I can count on both..
Just such nice, helpful people. Glad I can check in from time to time. This little Decware Zen amp just constantly amazes..... All the best~

Yes it sure has.  I've been checking it time to time since before I ordered the rachael on march 15 2024 I especially was following the how many times do you check the waitlist thread.  It sure would be nice to see more people on here again talking about their declare amps and people waiting for declare amps and what they're listening to.

I am on the shortlist and have seen a little bit of progress lately.  And that's a good thing.  BUT it is a little bit discouraging that even Christ is waiting.

Jesus!

Sorry, Christ,  I couldn't resist

I'm not on the short list I just took a look at it though and just like the long waiting list there's a long line up of people they're just waiting on the payment from.  Makes me wonder with all the time given that they haven't payed some here and there and have it all payed when it comes to build time. I paid mine off bit at a time and then ordered a ufo and payed it off bit at a time was easier that way.

Thanks Kamran!

While I was at it I have cleaned up the post editor and added a real Upload Image button that resizes the images automatically so they always fit nicely in the posts.

Here's a quick test of it - a blast from the past.... DeVon and Myself at VSAC 2001.

Dominick,

The what's spinning section is primarily fully of Lon's posts whose pictures are externally linked, as it should be.  I would have to delete the thread if that many pictures were uploaded to Decware every day.  So, don't expect any of those or any older posts to be different.  Only new stuff, and Lon should continue to use the method he has been using.
