Liionidas Crossover

With cooler weather coming on I’m looking for a project for sunless evenings and rainy days. I absolutely love my F15’s but go back and forth with their high efficiency and amp hum. I sometimes run them in series with my w15s to reduce hum but there is too much overlap of frequencies and loss of f15 magic.

I have most of the parts laying around to build the liionidas crossover. Does anyone have any input on changes I would make to the design to use the F15 instead of the Crystal 10?

I’m thinking to increase the capacitance to 160uf to lower the low-pass frequency on the W15. Doing a little math it seems like R1 isn’t needed but R2 should be a little bigger. Anyone tried this before or have any thoughts?

It has been my experience that placing resistors as padding in the high output of a two way seems to dull the sound adding artifacts. It may work out good for you so give it a go being you got most of the parts handy.

I agree, John. Adding parts into a clean circuit does not usually have a good outcome. I don’t think the amp has enough power to push as intended either. The design of the Liionidas calls for 100-150 watts. Will be a good rainy day project I guess. I’ll use binding posts so I can swap or jump parts to diagnose.
