Monobloc jumper cables
08/11/25 at 18:54:34

Does anyone know the length of the standard monobloc jumper cables used for the SE84UFO? I think they are 8", but want to double check.

And would banana terminals work the same as spades? Most of the ones I see for sale are spades—including the Decware kit.

I can't help you with the Decware version but the ones I made are about 9" and use bananas, FWIW. Mine go - to -, but I've used them briefly - to + as well. The exact details don't really matter. Decware has only recently started selling the mono kits, before that everyone had to DIY.

Thanks for the quick reply, James.

And you use speaker cable for the jumpers, correct (as opposed to interconnect cable)?

Correct. Always happy to help.

Steve is nice enough to provide the part number for the cable he uses for the the ZSTYX cable. Since I only needed a few feet of it I found a remainder roll and use it for the speaker cables and jumpers.

My jumpers are 9.5 inches and I use bare wires.  They are a bit longer than I want..but the extra length allows me to lift a the jumper a bit to allow me to float it and stay clear of the electrical plug..if that makes sense.

But I like the idea of using a banana plug.  This would allow me to shorten up the wire length and to have the wire satay clear of the electrical plug.

I used some old speaker Kimber Kable because I liked the way it looked with its 2 color woven pattern. I use bare wire ends and left myself 2 extra inched in case I feel the need to strip back for oxidization.

If I wasnt hooking up and un hooking gear so often I'd always use bare wire connections. I never tin my ends. Mentally it feels like the best connection to me correct or not.

Thanks for the feedback, seems the jumpers are pretty straightforward. Unfortunately, I don’t have a stockpile of extra cables so I’ll probably have some made by someone who can also make some custom XLR to RCA balanced interconnects so I can set the monoblocs up balanced.
