Tesla E34L

I just picked up a matching quad of NOS Tesla E34L for my Torii MK II. These are from the original Tesla factory, not JJ. Has anyone heard these power tubes, and if so what did you think? I'm thinking that it might be time to change out the Tung Sols that Steve sold me some years ago.

Also, how often do you folks change power tubes on average?

Thanks!

I don’t use EL34s myself, but I’m a big fan of Tesla tubes. A lot of their equipment came from Telefunken so typically the tubes are excellent.

As for charging tubes, Steve recommends listening to new tubes at least every 6 months to see if there is a noticeable change. That makes sense to me.

Thanks James, I'm from CA myself (CA SF Bay Area), where are you from?

I guess that I should give these tubes a go and see what happens...

Neil,

I tell people I live “Santa Barbara-ish”  but technically I live in Lompoc, aka Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Have you tried the 5V4Gs yet?

James,

Not yet. I think that I will try the power tubes first. I have some really nice to my ear NOS RCA JAN 5U4g's doing rectifier duty. I believe that they are from the 40's (?). They have smooth black plates...
