in my system I have the ability to add gain to the signal before my amp

I added 11db of gain and it does make a difference.

The biggest impact is to the sound stage - better defined  a bit deeper and iwith my La Scala's the highs seem to need a bit triming which is typical for La Scala's

If you can add gain play with it I think you will like the results
