Torii Mk 5 vs. 25th Anniversary Monoblocks?

25th A. monoblocks cost about 70% more than the Torii Mk 5. Is there going to be a difference between two such rarified options? Is the Torii just much better bang for the buck? One is pure SET, the other not but is said to sound SET-like.

Given the quality of the amplification I'm not sure there is much profound to say in contrasting one vs. the other but I am wondering.

Given the queue I think I have one chance in this life to make the right decision, ha ha

They share a name, but they're totally different animals. From what I gather, the monos sweet spot comes on at much louder volumes, and would be well-suited for many large speakers, including inefficient, hard-to-drive boxes.

The MKV is less of a specialty amp and more of a Jack of all trades. Albeit a very, very good one.

Inefficient hard to drive boxes won't do with 2.3 watt mono blocks.

Yes, I think Blueimage is thinking of the Torii Monos, not the SE84UFO3 with 25th Anniversary mods or a pair of SE84UFO25 run in mono. I have the SE84UFO3s with the mods, running them with HR-1 and they are "end-game amplifiers" for me. But others might want more power with the HR-1, and less efficient speakers would not work as well.

End-game amplification. Yes, that clarifies it. Thank you!
