Has anyone compared these Czech tubes, mfd. in plant 32 [Vrchlabi] vs mfd. in plant 37 [Trinec]?

So I'm a big fan of Tesla tubes in general. I have Tesla ECC88, E88CC and PCC88 from both factories and I haven't found any systematic differences between the factories. Rather there are differences in type (it looks like one picture is a ECC88 and the other is a PCC88) and esp. year. Tesla has a "house sound" that tends toward the detailed and transparent rather than rich and full. But in my experience (and in my gear) the E88CCs are more so, the PCC88 and ECC88s less.  Another one of my favorites is 6CC42 that can be adapted to a 6DJ8 type and it is (again in my gear) a little richer, fuller and more forward sounding while still maintaining a lot of detail.

IMO Tesla is a real bargain for quality NOS European tubes and well worth investigating to draw your own conclusions.

PS. FYI/FWIW Tesla uses a 2 letter date code. Older is usually better, but there is no real order to the code:

CA,

Is there a particular variant of the 6cc42 that you like? I may give some a run.

Thanks,

Geno

Hey Geno,

I started with the the "plain" 6CC42. I liked them so much I eventually sprang for the older pinched waist, crossed swords version which is even better, but rather pricey.

IIRC you like the GE 5670 and the Tesla is similar, but I think the sound is even more vivid and dynamic.
