RECTIFIER TUBE ON TORII JR

Have a question on my Torii Jr....when I start up my Torii amp the rectifier tube arcs for a second then settles...after warm up amp seems to run fine....this is the rectifier tube Steve sent with amp....might have 200hrs on amp...Is this a sign of tube going bad and ready for replacement?

I would replace it before the fuses blow.

....thanks Rivieraranch for reply...yes I have a couple NOS 5U4 I picked up I will try...this is my first tube change...going to be interesting to see if any change in sound

The 5U4G US made rectifier tube will last indefinitely, maybe forever. All those used 5U4 tubes that you see on eBay were pulled out of television sets and radios. If they test good they are still good. In many instances they just keep on working.

And that goes double for the JAN versions. But if you really want a rectifier tube built like a hammer I suggest the 5931 aka 5U4WG.
