CSP3 with 25th mods vs. CSP325?

Out of sheer curiosity - possibly down the line, what does the CSP325 offer in terms of sonics over a CSP3 with type II sig caps + 25th mods option?

It is intriguing, given the price differential of about $500 between the two.

I can't compare the two models  but I think sonically they are likely to be quite close. I have the CSP3 with the 25th Anniversry mods including a glass resistor. I prefer the looks of this to the other model, it matches my monoblocks. I love the sound of this preamp and it's a fantastic headphone amp for my Sennheiser HD800S headphones.

Thanks Lon. I think too that I would opt for the CSP3 with the full complement of 25th mods + sig cap type II upgrade to match my Taboo and ZRock2. A visual match as well, plus a savings of $500.

Then I'd have 2 headphone amps, lol, strange paradox.......I would be getting the CSP3 for the preamp function alone.

So it would be an outlay of about $2400. The real question: is it worth the additional $$ for its advantages over a ZBIT/Zrock2 combo? The only way to find out is to buy one.....but man, that's a big fat "ouch!" factor, given the investments already made.

I know you shared some thoughts before on this, do you have any more input by any chance?

I'll just add that this preamp in that configuration really helps the amplifier. It really enjoys the gain, and with the flexibility of control over the input and the output gain you can really fine tune the system sound.

Lon, thanks. That is very clear to me, and an ultimate selling point. This would be the last system component I will ever buy.

Due to the all tge investments already made, I surmise it'll be 1-2 years away......but yet another thing to look forward to!
