Edguy- I thought I was going to have to find a 12 step program for my limited tube rolling (just removed the '40's RCA 807's and installed 60's 6L6's in my Rachael) and my wife is looking at me with ''that'' look. You on the other hand may really need a program. Holy cow, how do you keep it all straight? Happy listening, Chris.

Wow. Are all of these tubes just for your Decware amp and preamp? Enjoy.

I have few favorites from any tube type, all the rest are just for backup. You know that you have to try all possible options before you find peace ☺️ I can not sleep or live if I know that there is a possibility that there is  better sounding tube out there. Now I can sleep 😂

But yet again, today I get my Zrock2, so I need to find good tube for it... I think to I start with Sylvania 12AU7

Enjoying it as well.

So far in my bridged se84ufo2's I have tried decware 6922 for input and some RCA  '50ish I think 5U4G rectifiers.

The 6922 I liked better with harder tracks and less at least initially with musical tracks.   Left them in and will try a swap again latter.

The 5u4g sounded great as soon as the went in, but I have not done a side by side with the 274b valve art yet.  To be heard later.

I can not compare my own findings in tube rolling with others anymore because my amplifiers have been completely rebuilt (all components replaced and all internal wires replaced with pure silver, all power wires shielded/isolated, all pots replaced...). So I do not know if the experiences are comparable to original Decware amps. Previously the differences between the tubes were very marginal, but now the differences are huge.

It may be a disease, but at least Tubes increase in value...  Not kidding: I sold most of my tube collection about 4 years ago to help free up cash for a home purchase.  I think 25-30% of the cash came from tubes!!

Just saw NOS GEC KT66 matched quads at Tubes Unlimited for a measly 375 bucks each. Expensive for sure! Thoughts?

I guess much would depend on what amp you are considering placing them into.  For me, KT66's will likely never see the light of day in my ZMA based on other tube types I have rolled in this amp - factoring in the rest of my system.

Certainly those tubes have a reputation that precedes them, but may not be the "end all, be all" in your particular system.

Remaining objective, I have to admit that I have not rolled those particular KT-66's in my system.  That being said, I have no idea what they sound like and if they could make me fall in love with KT-66's in my ZMA again.  That is the crappy reality of this hobby of ours...  there really is no way to know until you try.  But, those tubes amount to a very financially risky experiment.  I doubt they come with the Decware standard 30-day no risk trial.

I was eyeing those KT-66's as well but too rich and I'd say too risky for my blood.
What tubes are you running in your Torii? I used the Tung Sol KT-66's from Decware from this June until last week when one of them gave up the ghost. I installed a quad of Gold Lion KT-66's I had in reserve and while I enjoyed the midrange density and low end of the Tung Sols, I seem to be getting all I liked with them as well as a tighter bottom and much more detail and air at the top without any harshness. They've been in my Torii for over 40 hours and they're just getting better. So far my experience has with them suppressed any urge to go the NOS route. .... For now!

I have TAD KT66’s because Lon liked them. I think I get more holographic sound from them. I paired them with Amperex 6922’s.
