ZMA with Vandersteen 3A sig's
02/15/17 at 02:31:13

Hello ZMA guys.  Currently I have an Adcon 5500 powering my Vandersteen 3A signatures, and was wondering if anyone is using Vandy's with a ZMA?  If so, how well (or not), does it push them?

Regards
Jason

Nice Speaker's.
Sensitivity
 87 dB, 1 meter/2.83 volt input
Impedance
6 ohms nominal 4 ohms minimum
Crossovers
 First order/6dB per octave, 80Hz, 600Hz, 5kHz

The ZMA will drive them. Some here drive JanZen's at about the same Sensitivity.

The ZMA is an whole other kettle of fish compared to solid state. Music is more real with spectral tone/texture coming forth from the Instruments. And of course, clarity with dimensionality is vast.....burying solid state as well.

However, IMO, to get the most out of Decware Amps and even the powerful ZMA that has peaks of 114 watts of output

Thanks for the reply Stone.  I thought it might push them.  Just want to be sure before I drop 5K.  Still waiting on my CPS3 to see how it sounds with my Adcom 5500.

The CSP3 is quite the PreAmp, punching up to three times its price. I think you will like its weight and drive it brings to the party. Having the voltage adjustment output for each channel is as good as it gets.

The only reason, and I mean the only reason I sold mine.....I'm enjoying the purity of my ZMA sans Pre and using its gain/knob only. I have weight and density and maintain the most from my NOS Tubes.

The ZMA (for me) has become 3 Amps, instead of 1.....with Tube rolling:

Mull's inputs ~ Tele's inverter's
Edi's inputs ~ Tung's 7DJ8 inverter's
Tung's 6922 inputs ~ Tung's 7DJ8 inverter's

constants are KT66 reissue Tung-Sol's & NOS RCA 0A3's.

~NOS Platinum Tubes from Upscale Audio/Kevin:

(Great Britain) Mullard 7308/E188CC ~  2 pair (both pair Cryogenic)
(Germany) Telefunken E88CC ~ 1 pair
(US/Great Britain) Ediswan CV2492/6922 ~ 2 pair (one pair Cryogenic)
(Hungary) Tungsram 6922/E88CC ~ 1 pair
(Hungary) Tungsram PCC88/7DJ8 ~ 1 pair.

From Cryoset:
(Russia) 6N23N/P-EB ~ 2 pair

(Russia) 6N23P's ~ 2 pair/came with ZMA.

What the CSP3 will bring for you driving your Adcom and once again, with the adjustable voltage output-will be very good.
