Dynamic Range Database

I've been disappointed with a lot of remastered and newer CD's that are on the market now.   The loudness wars style mixing has taken most of the dynamic range out of the music and really compressed it.  I found a database ( http://dr.loudness-war.info/ ) that rates all formats based on their dynamic range.  You can use it to help find the best release of an album you are looking to buy.

I love those databases. It helped me pick some great CDs back in the day.

Home Theater guys do special analysis and post their graphs too if you like to see what kind of bass a movie has.  ;)
