A quick observation
02/23/16 at 22:54:17
I've been messing around building speakers for the last few months, changing speakers in and out of my stereo room. Horns, open baffles, my rocker clones.
All of that time my MG944's have been sitting quietly over in the corner.
I was getting ready to do some work on my OB's tonight and drug the MG's out of the corner and hooked them up.
My builds sound like crap, I am not a pimple on Bob Ziegler's ass.
I bow in his direction, I'm humbled.

Donnie,
No that is funny! Man thanks for the compliment, but that IS funny.
But as you know, what you do has my utmost respect!

I too, have had some crazy failures. Not so complete that I did not learn anything. We can get into something with expectations (from denial or fantasy), and be so surprised when it just doesn't happen as hoped. Fortunately, it has not slowed me down much after a good cry.

I'm still cranking the MG944 on my Mystery amp. I've had some $5k-$6k speakers in here, and I think I'm onto something good...still I put the MG944 back in.
I love these speakers.

I've recently been humbled in a similar way. I had been experimenting with home built OB speakers for the last three years working towards a goal of a good sounding speaker for low power tube amplifiers. I recently gave up and disassemble the whole thing when I realized my recently acquired Rogers Studio 1A speakers just perform better in every respect except sensitivity. They're better than anything I've listened to in my room thus far. Unfortunately I do not have proper speaker to play my SE84UFO that Steve build for me last year. Dang!
