MM. We have seasonal forest fires every summer here. The forest service and state and local ff services do a wonderful job in curtailing and removing dead trees, thinning and overgrowth over the years. We've had hot embers falling around our proper and home many times, but have always been on top of it. No problems, except BUSY..lol. We've called in smoldering strikes over the years. Fire services have been doing another wonderful job here trying to stay on top of new fire starts. They always have. This image from home showing a tree strike. We kept an eye on it and it appears that the heavy rain put that one out.. but still.. watching for a few more days... never know for sure. That entire upper part there as well as the back side and beyond of that mountain burned about 9 years ago now and it was bad. And arson has picked up the last few years as well. Not going to get into the why's here. But most know why. All the best~ Miike

We’ve had a fire raging about 15 miles west of me for a month now. Luckily the smoke hasn’t been too bad. Yet. Definitely appreciative of the firefighters. Calling for some unseasonal rain the next couple days. Hoping for the best.

Fire burns and scars have slid mud rock and downed timber into several roads out here. Still cleaning the mess behind us. A beautiful Sunday, so bbq later

Legendary recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder was born on this day November 2, 1924! An optometrist by trade, Rudy's true passion was sound recording & jazz. In 1953, he began recording Blue Note sessions in the living room of his parents' house in Hackensack, New Jersey, later moving into his own studio in Englewood Cliffs in 1959.
