Battle of the bands on the beach was a big thing on South Padre Island, Texas during those early days. Pre-recording contract days for the Top.
I was pushing toward the beginnings of a sound company back in that time.
I've seen a lot of bands in competition fold when these guys showed up, because they always won.

Took the fam to DC on Saturday and was lucky to snag some tickets for the National Museum of African American History & Culture. One of the many wings is devoted to music/artists and while there were too many picture worthy exhibits, this one caught my eye. Featured here is Jimi Hendrix’s vest that he wore at a concert in the UK as well as his Marshall Speaker cabinet. You can zoom in to read the explanatory text of the exhibit.

I remember the weak sound of the Koss Pro4A. It wasn't until Koss made the HV1-LC that I ever heard good sound from a set of phones.

I saw him four or five years ago and my thoughts, were MAN, he's still got the pipes. Wow! How?

Then I immediately thought that this guy is going to make it to 100 and I'll bet he still has some left for us when he does. It was a phenomenal big band pop concert.
Sadly, I was wrong.

Best thoughts to all his family and all who knew him.
