Still troubled with driver mounting
04/01/10 at 07:57:45

I have searched the forum, but I am still unsure as to which direction to mount the driver in the death box.

#1-  Should the driver be mounted on the insert with the magnet going into the "sealed" portion of the box? or

#2-  Should the driver be mounted in the insert with the magnet going into the insert towards the back panel (the panel with the 45 degree cut) of the insert?

Just a little confused, but very excited!!!

Thanks for any help!

Depending on which way the sub is mounted can alter the tuning of the enclosure. I have try it both ways and had a hard time telling the difference with my hearing. My preference is with the magnet in the sealed section and the sub firing into the ported section but I know others who prefer it the opposite. You might want to try it both ways and let you ears decide for you.

Thanks for the reply!

That's what I had gathered from other posts on the same question, but just wanted to be clear.  Actually, it makes the DB that much more exciting because of the many variables that allow you to get the sound you like.

Thanks again!
