SE84C+ & MG944
12/08/09 at 13:44:22

I'm considering buying the SE84C+ tube amp and MG944 speakers.  Would they work well together?

I'm in a very small house with neighbors about 25 feet away in another house.  My listening room is very small and I sit 10 feet from my speakers which have to be placed very close to the wall, and angled to point toward me.  Should that all be OK for the MG944s?

My last question is whether the MG944s can handle being about 2-3 feet from a small but hot wood-burning stove.

Welcome gg!  I know from your posts on the Hoffman board that you're interested in this combination (I'm "Lonson" there).

I'm sure you will get a response that will help you decide.  You may also wish to post this in the MG944 forum within this board.

After speaking with Bob (ZYGI) he said that as long as the wood stove is beside, not directly in front of the speakers, you should be just fine. The speakers construction will not have a problem with such an environment. Asking him directly might serve a better answer as you can explain in detail the room layout.

Camel is right, if you could stand there for any length of time then the MG should be able to handle it.
The SE84C won't play at ear bleed levels by any means, with your small room and close proximity to the speakers, you should be able to enjoy what you hear.
