Yes, Donald Byrd and Pepper Adams had a great working band in the early 'sixties that featured the piano of Herbie Hancock, then Duke Pearson and along came Chick Corea near its end. This is the original cover of "The Chant," that I have on this Japanese cd. It was one of many albums not released by Blue Note til a decade later when Michael Cuscuna was granted access to the vaults. That's why it is a bit "under the radar" compared to other Byrd-Adams albums like "Byrd in Hand," "Royal Flush," "The Cat Walk," and the two volumes live at the Half Note. They are all good.

Love "Chant" .. great album!

FWIW, most mornings (and some late evenings) I listen to TheJazzGroove internet radio station. Being a patron, which I am, gives access to their 16/44.1 streams and silences all commercial and fundraising breaks. The quality is terrific. I've discovered a lot of hidden gems through this station over the years. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but just wanted to mention it in case you guys aren't aware of them. Enjoy the day gentlemen.

@lon your post put me in the mood for some classic Miles, so today it's Steamin' - I love the opening track (Surrey with the Fringe on Top) and the intimacy of this recording.

Streaming via Tidal and laying back and listening. BTW, I go back and when I can find them in Tidal or Amazon Prime I listen to almost everything you guys post that's in the Jazz category - i'm getting to hear things I haven't heard before and it's great!
