A cool and quiet morning. I'm trying to talk myself out of a lot of work today. . .we'll see if I succeed.

Starting off with a new arrival. I saw this was being re-issued and pulled out my OG 2 LP set. Man that is a beat up record--this one may have been at too many parties when I wasn't in command of the turntable. So I ordered a copy of the new reissue. Clean sounding. This was never the best sounding material they put out, but it was the third of theirs I bought. I got into them right before the hiatus, and saw them just before this material war recorded and was excited when this came out. I really do like the music!

Reply #29153 - 07/29/26 at 17:16:41 A correction to the post above about "Steal Your Face": I saw the Dead shortly after, not before these were recorded. And I'm re-spinning LP2 and decided to try reversing the phase on the phono preamp and wow, it sounds much better.

I really relish the early morning cool and calm. This is my favorite temperature zone.

Listening to this new one from Lewis a second time. It's mastered loud, but turning down the gain on my Decware ZBIT fixed that.

Reply #29156 - Yesterday at 11:49:40 Miles Davis "Round About Midnight" 2 SACD set from Sony Japan 2026, disc 2 Sounds really good in the SACD format, and very nice 7" packaging. Reissues live recordings from the Newport Jazz Festival on July 17, 1955 (VOICE OF AMERICA) #1, and a live performance in Pasadena on February 18, 1956.

Reply #29158 - Yesterday at 20:40:08 Now the stereo disc in this 2 SACD set from Sony Japan, Miles Davis "Milestones" in the great 7" packaging. This music has been in rotation since about 1977 . . . I still enjoy the heck out of this album, for so many years in mono, and recently in stereo.
