Checkout my Imperial Update
10/05/08 at 13:15:21

It's been a while, but I haven't been idle. Greetings to you all
Well, my Imperial vision is almost complete. As you can see, I have fitted the front fascia, fitted 2, 4" midrange drivers and fixed the planar tweeter to the front baffle. The appropiate wiring for tri-amping completes the picture. Have yet to give them a good work out, but initial testing (albeit, in the shed), says they sound pretty good. As soon as summer rolls around out here, I'll drag them out for a proper play and post a few more pics.
Cheers
Gaz

'Cause I've had the Imperials tucked away and out of action for some months now, I was surprised, yet once again, when I fired them up.
Things have gone a little quiet on the forum front lately. I guess the initial surge to the workshops of this world has subsided and the angry sound of power saws now lay softly o'er the land. In other words, it may be time to write a book, and compile all the wonderful history and technical grunt that has has emerged on these pages.
To try and explain the sound of the Imperial to someone who hasn't heard them is like tryng to describe the colour 'gold' to someone who has never seen. Uh oh, calm down Gazza Grin
Once again, Howdy to all my mates  :)

Hi Gaz,

Your Imperials look hot!!  Love the veneer against paint effect.

As summer draws near, I will soon have the Imperials set up on the patio and will take some nice informative pics of them then. So far, the best sound is delivered using CO points of 760 and 2000 Htz. The roll off is 12dB. The Electronic CO is a Gemini CX1000. I'm struggling with eliminating a 100Htz hum (Aussie mains 50Htz x 2). I've done the usual checks (earthing, leads etc) but the hum persists.  :-? If anyone has any ideas let me know.
Till then,
Gaz
