I'm looking at the SE84ZSM blocks & I was wondering what is the durability/ life span in hours of a OA3 tube? I'm looking for sources to purchase this tube & I'm have troubles finding them. Any sub or upgrade to this voltage regulation tube?

Hi settipani,

According to Steve, there are no advantages to rolling this tube in the new monos. (See Reply #55 in this thread).

As to durability/lifespan, that I don't know.

Thanks for the link...it answered part of my question.

Also it lead into Steve's article on the secret behind the Zen Triode output transformers.

Hello Settipani,

Here's a link that should answer your question.

While the tubes aren't exact equivalents, they're both cold cathode types, just operating at different voltages. Try ebay. Don't be afraid of the Russian equivalents.
