Eminence KAPPA PRO-10A in WO

Would it work? It doesn't seem terribly far from the DHM-108b

DHM-108b
RMS 275 Watts
Peak Power 400 Watts
Sensitivity 1w/1m  90.5 dB
FS (Hz)  40.8 Hz
QMS 7.49
QTS 0.618
VAS (cubic ft) 1.87 (53 liters)
XMAX (inches)  0.39

Eminence
Power Rating     500W
Music Program  1000W
Sensitivity 1w/1m 97  db
Resonance 46Hz
Mechanical Q (Qms)  10.10
Total Q (Qts)  0.20
Compliance Equivalent Volume (Vas)  52.2 liters / 1.8 cu. ft.
Maximum Linear Excursion (Xmax)  0.12in
Maximum Mechanical Limit (Xlim)   0.43in

The Qms is higher and the Qts is lower on the Eminence. However, I can't get over the 97db and 1000w. That's 127db, not counting the WO gains.

The vas is extremely close also.  Very good for fitting it in the WO.  As fas as Qms- idk how that would effect the output or sound in a WO or bandpass.

Eminence is pretty well respected in the industry. Can't imagine they'd need to fudge specs.

OTOH, I agree there are a lot of good reports on this forum for many different drivers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the XMAX for the eminence is woefully lacking! roughly 1/3 of the dhm-108b

Must sacrifice Xmax for sensitivity...can't have both

Here's a good question: Is an Xmax of .12 (nearly 1/8") enough for use in a WO using a pro sound woofer?

The Eminence woofer in question has a Xlim of .43". I suppose once you've exceeded the Xmax you're dramatically increasing distortion, but I don't think it would damage the driver.

Somebody straighten me out if I totally don't understand.

iirc, prosound drivers have xsus and xmag considerably bigger compared to xmax. it's there just in case something happens to make sure the speaker survives.
drivers with high xmax have an xsus and xmag closer to xmax.
i'm not sure if most manufacturers measure xmax where the motor force dropped to 70%. but if that's the case, distorsion increases a lot when you exceed xmax. also, the woofer will "tell you" if it doesn't like the amount of power.
only problem i see with the kappa is it's ability to go low. sealed box means you need some xmax to be able to reproduce the lows. but the wo will work magic. if you are going to use it for pa, lows aren't such a worry.
