question on sub specs? can you build a box with ou

I have just peurchaced a velodyne 12 and plate amp off good old ebay, seemed like a great deal , and still does if.......i can find the specs for this sub, the sub is origonaly part of a ct-120 subwoofer,  I have serched high and low and can not find specs to design a box with. I am  leaning towards a house wrecker box but would like to know if this can be done with out specs, or if a death box would be better.  I have located outer dementions of the factory box but this is a guess at best as the mdf thinkness is a guess and who knows what the inside looks like.  any help that any one has or sudjections on getting the best audio performance for this unit.My choises are either DB, HW or build a ported cube! I listen to mostly home theater, and alot of dirty internet music that has so so bit rate, but do perfer alot of base.  i have bookshefl speakers for about 2 more months , then i will be adding some towers made of 6 -7 inch drivers

hmm  ???
i guess you can build it. speakers that speaker simulation programs reccomend for ported have worked well in the db. having 1 12 i'd certainly go for a db-12. i have a very cheap 12 in the db-12, and it sounds really nice.
if you tune it as low as possible, you have to have some decent midbass units to make the bass sound just right.

is the house wrecker not a ported design?  i kinda figured that would be the best box for me as i assume it is ported front and back side.  but the size i would assume should play a factor.   do you build the DB-12 as one said size and then just move the shelf to get the best sound?

the house wrecker with one sub is a 6th order bandpass. this design relates to a ported design. the db is a 4th order bandpass, which relates to a sealed box.
you build the db-12 to the plans and adjust the insert until it sounds best.

ok, so what would you do ......and can you build the Hw with out the specs to its fullest ?  OR are you required to size the chambers?  and is the DB sized as well?

you don't have to rethink/mod anything. just try to build them as close as possbile to the plans.
the db-12 is higher than the hw in my list having 1 12 to play with. with 2 12s in the hw you can take advantage of that 'air coushion' between the drivers.
what do you mean by 'sized' ?
the better subs you put in the enclosures, the better they sound. of course, even a 40$ 12 sounds rather nice in the db-12.

so what would you do

i'd build the db-12. last summer i had the exact problem : i had the 12 and wanted to build something after putting together my db-10. i ended up with the db-12 instead of the hw.

by sizeing i was asking if the chambers are built to a mesurment calculated by the woofer perametors of it the plans just say build it 24 inches by 14 for example.  and lastly is the db-10 plans the same as the 12 , cause the db-12 download looks like it is set up for a clamshell setup. what plans would i order, the db-10 and scale it up, or the db-12?
