rounding edges 'a little' is a good idea but try to keep the gap about 1.25, unless you are going to use 2000 watts or more and high excursion drivers, then you could maybe open the gap to about 1.75 or 2 to avoid any chance of port noise? clasmshelling is like haveing 2 motors in 1 car-performance gets real 'snappy', personally i wouldnt make the sealed end any smaller, the more space you have back there the lower it will play.
