The port opening has to be 1.25" from the walls for best performance. I would like to use some extra bracing in the first corner after the port. I want to know if the port should maintain 1.25" distance away from the brace and wall until it starts to flare into the horn. Does smoothing the sharp edges inside the horn help? Also when clamshelling speakers how does that affect the Vas? YES I'm a stup! How do I determine the size of the sealed section with the Vas of the speaker especially if I'm clamshelling? Too much whiskey in the early years has limited my IQ. ALL HELP APPRECIATED.

rounding edges 'a little' is a good idea but try to keep the gap about 1.25, unless you are going to use 2000 watts or more and high excursion drivers, then you could maybe open the gap to about 1.75 or 2 to avoid any chance of port noise? clasmshelling is like haveing 2 motors in 1 car-performance gets real 'snappy', personally i wouldnt make the sealed end any smaller, the more space you have back there the lower it will play.

In theory, the Vas is cut in half when you clamshell. I clamshelled 4 matching drivers in one WO and did not re-adjust any volumes and it was still a vast improvement in tight, controlled bass at high power levels. Not very noticeable at first when played at low power levels. When you really push them, the clamshelling helps control pulse transient "over rings" very well.
