Dear Decwarista....

I seek advice regarding a phono preamp upgrade I have been considering the need of.

My current phono listening is decidedly tame, polite, underwhelming, when compared to my digital (which has been groomed to a sublime degree... Nagra streamer --> soulnote d2 dac).

I am currently thinking of two options, and I seek your advice...

Option 1: Angela Gilbert Yeoung P15 Phono Preamp with a D2 Power Supply. This is a solid state point to point phono preamp and people love the sound.... from what I can gather, it may make my phono SQ similar to my digital stream... is that true? And given the XLR outputs, it would allow me to utilize my Zbit --> Zrock --> Amp stream... which is very nice.

Option 2: more typical Phono Preamp with RCA Outputs. The RCA Outputs would mean I plug it straight into the Decware 300B amp... and perhaps this sound would be distinct and unique when compared to my digital end.

AI suggests I look at options such as:
-Allnic Audio H-1202
-Tavish Design Adagio
-Sun Audio SV-PE700

Questions:
-would it make sense to aim for my analogue to be distinctly different than my digital? Right now my digital is incredible, open articulate textured huge... am thinking my aim for vinyl would not be to try to match or surpass this, but to be more intimate, present, emotional (even though I describe my digital sound this way also)

-am I right or wrong when I say that the AGY phono preamp would have my vinyl playback lean in the direction of my digital? or will the GY phono preamp also be very distinct from my digital?

-what do you all recommend for phono preamps? would a tube based amp lean my system towards too much warmth?

My system components are listed at the bottom of my posts. Prior to the PH9.0XT I had a series of solid state phono preamps including two versions of the  Dynavector P-75's (when running Dynavector 20XL cartridges), a Parasound Halo PC, and then an older Pass Labs unit.

I have a Nottingham Interspace TT with a heavy platter and a modified Rega tonearm with a Stack Audio Serene mat and stabilizer. The turn etable is mounted on a very solid, precisely leveled Timber Nation Tiger Maple stand with my Modwright PH9.0XT unit and it's separate power supply. I usually run moving coil cartridges.

The PH9.0XT can handle very low output cartridges with ease. Dan wright recommended both the Hana SL MKII and ML cartridges along with Audio Technica AT OC9MXL  and ATMy turntable un mostly  moving coil cartridges AT OC9SXL carts. All of these match up perfectly with the phono preamp. The AT carts have special line contact styli which when set up properly are amazing at retreiving detail from your vinyl grooves and reducing noise you sometimes get from other styli.
