A fun exercise. . . Dream audio

Let's dream. . . if you won a big Lotto jackpot, how would your audio change?

Me, I would buy my most immediate neighbor's house which has been vacant five years (daughter of the owner grew up here, is wealthy, lives in Seattle, and doesn't want to sell now that her parents are both gone) which has a fantastic huge living room with a wall of floor to ceiling windows looking out on the forest across from our street. I'd set this windows up with heavy drapes that could be closed, room treatment, and get a pair of the Torii Monos and maybe a Manley 300B preamp and Bob's latest HR-2 speakers and play around with digital and analog front ends for a while til I found the ones I liked the most.

This would make my wife happy, I'd let her do what she wanted with this house and have my listening world just up the road. I'd leave my current main system in place here in the house.

Your ideas?

I would do a fully treated room in an auxiliary building.
Start with the right room first and then see what is out there that interests me.
Maybe some of those fancy Swiss amplifiers. Perhaps some DeVore reference speakers in Koa wood.

It would be hard to make up my mind.

Yes, lots of options is not the most comfortable situation!

I would opt for Donnie's comment about a aux building built for audio. And then the first thing would be to experience our system in that room. Then start at the turntable for an overhaul at SOTA and find the best person to re-do our FR64-S arm.  After that who knows....Great thread Lon.
P.S. I will say that as much as I like a six day vacy weekend, coming home and turning on our system is sure a great feeling. Happy Listening all.

hdrider, I hear you. I love being in front of my system and hate to leave home! It's nice to do so, and fabulous to return.

Interesting thought and discussion. Call me mister lack-of-imagination but I’m perfectly happy where I am and if there were anything I thought would make an improvement I would get after it.

I’ve had separate listening rooms, more treatment, and more elaborate systems in the past, only through trial and error ended up where I am. I really prefer a shared listening space that balances room treatment with a comfortable aesthetic, and being able to cook, share meals, and enjoy company in the same space that I can sit in the sweet spot and travel through the listening portal to another dimension.

That sounds like a good space to be in. Too bad I have never found a woman who would share such a space with me and put up with the necessary audio environment and would listen as I would want to, so I need to have a separate listening space as I need a partner in life.

Without a doubt a separate building. Ground floor with 4 post lift, a vette, an air cooled Porsche, and one yet to be determined obscenely loud, cammed V8 muscle car. Second floor audio room with all my current goodies. I have the space for it at the back of our property, but the funds are still a dream or rather a nightmare!

Nice ideas.

I would build a stage in the backyard, a small amphitheater.
Every night I would hire a different band.
Maybe the occasional residency.

During the day, while I slept, the band would get set. The show would start around 7pm, end around 10pm. After all, the neighbors have to sleep. After 10pm the band would tear down and go to their next show.

Of course, the entire affair, daily, would be catered.
All of it would get posted on social media, monetized.

Nice, right?

I'm really shocked you wouldn't be selling live 2 track master tapes of every show.

I thought about this a little more. I was being too conservative with my spending of massive amounts of cash! Might as well spread the love around.

New plan:
I'm still sticking with a designed from the ground up listening room, or perhaps we should call it a Listening Salon (Just to sound more upscale).

Then I would take a wheelbarrow full of cash up to East Peoria and start throwing stacks of $100's at Steve to get him to develop his most outrageous sound system ever.
I figure at about a half a million he would start getting some pretty good ideas!
I'm thinking that something bespoke is closer to my style anyway.

I would probably do the same thing with several designers because I have a problem listening to the same system every day.
